Best outcome we could have had. If we had got 6th and the Europa League, we would now be looking at qualifying for the Wilkos European Trophy. At what stage do relegated teams qualify for the 'Even shitter than the slightly less shit European trophy competition for teams finishing 15th-17th'.

We now have an entire season where both Man U and Chelsea are playing Thursday/Sunday for a large part of the winter, where we can capitalise and have a real go at top 4 again, providing the recruitment is right this summer.

Blows my mind reading some of the takes elsewhere that any player worth his salt would be attracted to a team playing in the 3rd best European competition, basically the European trophy equivalent of the Fat Kids with Diabetes race at the annual infant school sports day.

I don't care if this comes across as arrogant, self-entitled supporter shite, who thinks the club he supports, who haven't won a trophy in 54 years, are too good for it. I don't want to do a West Ham, I don't want to celebrate winning the 3rd best competition in Europe, it's a total sham and nothing to be proud of.

There are two European competitions, and the only way we would have qualified for the Europa League this year was to get 5th or win the FA Cup, we did neither because we weren't good enough. Let's have a good summer and a free run next year in the league, and try to win one of the domestic cups. Until we have a deeper squad, we are not equipped to deal with Europe anyway, this season showed that.

I couldn't agree more!

We demonstrated quite clearly this season that we don't yet have a squad deep enough or good enough to take on extra European games.

And the injuries, tiredness through having to rely on the same players etc crippled our ambitions.

I'm well happy that we missed out on the mickey mouse Europa League!
