Disappointed big Jow isn't starting, but honestly, and I won't say anything beyond this as I don't want to be the jinx...

That Man U starting 11... wow, just wow.

Could have 6 sealed this evening if results go our way, short of a crazy 12+ goal swing on the final day.

Get Trippier off, Krafth to right back, Schar in to centre back. Can't believe how bad he looks, atrocious, and he is going to cost us another goal if he is left out there.

Welp about sums up our season. When it comes down to it, we can't get it across the line

Hope we lose at the weekend and Man U get a point or win.

Europa League = decent season all things considered and a decent enough European competition that will bring in some money and give us a chance to compete against some decent sides in Europe. Has a league impact with Thursday/Sunday but is prestigous enough for it to be worth the effort.

Europa Conference League = the worst thing that could happen to us. Worth fuck all money, attracts absolutely no one you couldn't already attract without Europe. A pathetic "competition" brought in solely to make everyone feel like a winner. Will have an impact on the league that will hold us back from achieving our ultimate goal which is to be fighting for top 4 again, and for what, a cup that West Ham managed to win for fucks sake. Complete and utter fucking disaster if we qualify for this, and partly the reason I am absolutely livid tonight, as this is the best we will get now.

As for tonight, the season in a nutshell. Dubravka, Krafth, Murphy, Longstaff and Anderson not good enough and should be no where near a starting 11 next season. Trippier wanted Bayern in January, so off you pop, clearly doesn't give much of a fuck now and has been responsible for as many errors leading to goals by a Newcastle player this season as I can ever remember previously, in any campaign, thanks for your time and helping the club get back to the right end of the table, but it is time to move him on. His attitude tonight shocked me, want away by all means, but do your fucking job on the pitch. He was an embarassment tonight, shameful attitude performance from such an experienced player.

Howe needs to give his head a wobble with how he is preparing for away games, all season long we have looked short/shite away from home, and all season long he has failed to find a solution with the players he has had available. The starting 11 tonight should have included Joelinton and Almiron, it was a shocking decision from Howe not to start those players and then bring Anderson and Murphy on when the game is in a position to do so. His favouritism towards bang average players, and I am being really polite here, is winding me and I am sure many others up. It's costing the club points and it has to change, otherwise the top 4 finish will be a fluke and we will just be another one of those teams fighting for 6th place every year.

Don't want to write much else about it as I will probably say something I will regret saying. This is by far the most angry I have been since Howe arrived with any performance and/or result, the consequences of being stuck in the Europa Conference League will impact the club not just next season, but the season after that, it's the single worst outcome left. What a shite way to end the season, going into the final game hoping we finish lower in the league than we can technically achieve.

Totally agree about the Europa Micky Mouse competition - not an unexpected view from me given I was the one who said we had qualified for the Champions League far too soon with a squad that was too small and not good enough to deal with the extra games and inevitable injuries.

It’s a vexed issue as not being in europe makes our best players unsettled and targets for the clubs who qualify. Squeaky bum time in that respect…

Having said that, wouldn’t be surprised if Manure mysteriously lost their final game in readiness for an uncluttered all-out assault on top 4 next season.

“That’s the way to do it!”

Yep agree Mick, look what it did for Arsenal, take a gap out, come back so much stronger.

It's a really stupid, short term view, when the long term picture is building a squad that can compete on all fronts, all year round, year in and year out.

The Europa League I could just about have stomached, although we would still be woefully under equipped to compete in that. The turn around of players in our squad is still 3-4 transfer windows away from being where we need to be, and until then, I would happily have a team I could enjoy watching on a weekend and maybe a domestic cup success if we could go that far in either one.
