Terrible news. He was probably the one player in the mid/late 90's who brought sponsorship into the pro game. One of the all time greats. 6'4", 19stone and could run 100m in 11secs in boots. Bloke was absolutely phenomenal. It was only his kidney issues that curtailed his career. On top of everything he was also a top, top bloke.

sad. i wonder if his kidney problems were caused/exacerbated by Rugby - his body took a lot of hard hits over the years - even though he came off best in most of them.

Awful to see a top sportsman and generally top bloke lose his life at such a young age.
Had a young family as well I believe.

If there is one positive for his family it is that he got to see the team he loved and graced with his presence lift the world cup just a few weeks back.
Death can never be a positive thing but he will have passed with some very happy and very recent memories.
