Chelsea (h)
#1
Saturday 18th January sees Chelsea at St James' Park for a 5.30 kick off which is also live on Sky Sports.

Injury update (taken from NUFC.com):

Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Ciaran Clark, Jetro Willems and Jamaal Lascelles all in contention.

Allan Saint-Maximin is also back in training but it remains to be seen when he makes a a return.

However the news isn't as good for Dwight Gayle, Paul Dummett, Fabian Schaer, Javier Manquillo, Yoshinori Muto, DeAndre Yedlin and Ki.

Personally, I'm particularly happy to see Lascelles available again to hopefully kick the defence back into shape and get them playing the Rafa way again.

And with Almiron apparently firing on all cylinders again this is not a foregone conclusion!

Add the saint into the mix and we could surprise a few folks!!

This could be a game we can get 3 points from but to do so our defense will need to be solid all game and we will need to convert counter chances. But this is a young Chelsea side that have shown if they go down they dont have a lot of the mentality to pick themselves up and get back in it.

The latest is that Schar and ASM are available but Carroll is a doubt.

Lack of an actual forward on the bench is concerning.

Yep - otherwise it's quite a strong bench

We've had the best chance so far - Joelinton crashing a header against the bar

Nervy first half.

Another classic first half where we give up 70% of the ball and have absolutely no idea what to do when we do get it.

We might get something from a set piece of a piece of ASM magic, but other than that it's service as usual.
