But what a night that was eh?
Six goals shared by our own version of the Famous Five, who will now be written into Newcastle United folklore.
History will record that Jonjo Shelvey (2), Ayoze Perez, Ciaran Clark, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Grant Hanley scored the goals.
However, this was undoubtedly a full team effort with every single player in a black and white shirt putting in a performance that will have delighted United fans everywhere.
And it would be remiss of me not to mention the main reason for this amazing turn around in our fortunes which has given us a team worthy of this massive club and which we, the fans, can once again be truly proud of.
Rafa Benitez. Everything he says and does just goes to add weight to the evidence already compiled that we have a top class manager at the helm.
The man is clearly on a mission to make United great again – starting with promotion back to the Premier League asap.
My only fear is that so-called “bigger” clubs who are struggling will notice this and try to tempt him away – but personally I think Rafa has realised that there aren’t many clubs bigger than this one.
Anyway that is a discussion for another day.
After the rout of Queens Park Rangers, Rafa had this to say:
“Maybe, it’s not the right thing to say, but we can improve”
“The team has done well. Everybody was pushing and working very hard, but as always we made some mistakes. You have to make sure you control all of the games in a way that you have chances and they don’t have any.”
“I said before, we have to be sure we are concentrating for every game, now I will say the same. “It doesn’t matter if you score six goals, you get three points in the end. “We have to be sure we enjoy it but after concentrate on the next one”.
Anyway, back to our Famous Five theme.
Listening to the goals being scored, and watching them being scored on Sky TV made me feel like I wanted “lashings of ginger beer”
Or maybe something just a little bit stronger!!
